Samy Watson aka Samy Wats was born in Alexandria, Egypt to a native Egyptian mother and an African-American father born in Memphis, Tennessee. He was brought up in a culturally diverse household where music was an integral fixture. His
dad regularly played jazz and blues while his mother listened to Egyptian music. He has shared the stage opening for the likes of Nipsey Hussle, Ace Hood, and Maino.
In 2013 he toured Japan as the opener for Soulja Boy. His influences are revealed through his commanding flows and smooth melodic vocals.
