Major D-Star – Nothin To Do Wit Dat

In the latest standout single from his long-awaited “Trap Star” LP, Major D-Star sets himself apart from a cohort of inauthentic rappers who lack the soul of Hip Hop — and trappers who lack the spoils they brag about on wax.

“Nothin to Do With Dat” is a declaration of realness, a celebration of grind, and a laid back banger worthy of multiple spins. In the vivid visual directed by ShotByLD, we see Major D-Star on a solitary drive through the city — and through a beautiful residential area — as he laments his unspoken realness; his current position is bright. It’s a time in the sun that was earned by keeping it 100 and stacking his keep.

”I remember when I used to look up to rap,” he melodically croons in his trademark cadence as the song begins. “Now it’s too fake I ain’t used to that.” Like many of his recent hits, there is a sense that he revels in overcoming a lack of belief in his dreams, keeping a small circle as a result. The hit single’s inspiring mantra makes it suitable theme music for progressing while others stay stagnant and remaining as true to your vision as possible without compromise.
