Buzzing Florida rap phenomenon GMK maintains his momentum with an energetic new single and music video entitled “Get Back” [feat. Lil Kooley]. The track will be featured on GMK’s upcoming EP—set to drop on November 11th.
A suspenseful piano melody instantly sets the tone of “Get Back.” GMK comes in with hard-hitting bars that echo the same menacing nature of the beat, and Lil Kooley delivers the perfect punchlines to play off of GMK’s distinct sound. The accompanying video gives the track even more life, featuring flashy jewelry, high fashion, and lots of cash at the scene of a local Florida neighborhood.
GMK and Lil Kooley debuted the track for their From The Block performance, which was released on YouTube on October 25th.
“Get Back” comes on the heels of GMK’s electrifying collaborative single “Free Ksoo,” featuring fellow Florida natives Backstreet TK and JayDaYoungan. Having only dropped two weeks ago, the video for “Free Ksoo” has already received 660k views, and the song is about to crack 100k Spotify streams. The track has additionally been praised by High On Charts and Florida Rap News.
Ominous piano and the ethereal chanting of a children’s choir set the stage for GMK, JayDaYoungan, and Backstreet TK to go hard on a series of verses about longtime friend and collaborator Florida rapper Ksoo. Ksoo is currently incarcerated and awaiting trial on two separate charges of first-degree murder. His lyrics and social media presence are being unjustly used against him in both cases. Family and friends of the recently deceased, featured artist JayDaYoungan, appear in the Free Ksoo music video.
“Free Ksoo” arrives on the heels of GMK’s heartfelt anthem, “Letter To Yasir,” which he dedicated to his son, Yasir. It has generated hundreds of thousands of streams and YouTube views already. HipHopDx praised how he “savors the birth of his son and bestows his own life lessons upon the newborn in his touching new single.”
Most importantly, it sets the stage for more music to come very soon from GMK.
