Following the release of their new full-length project, Child Trapped in Poems, Ariano and producer Jade River drop their video for the single “Through the Trap.”
“Through the Trap” is a gritty tale of three people who resolve to do whatever it takes to break through their bleak life circumstances and overcome the odds. Jade’s boom bap beats shine throughout the track, while Ariano delivers the story with a muffled rasp in a rap-talk cadence that commands the listener to pay attention.
The video for “Through the Trap,” the brain-child of the immensely talented director and visual creator Gifted Glitch, continues on the theme of the dystopian comic-book noir world that viewers may recognize from the duo’s previous video, “Time’s Up.” This newest video expands on the video game aesthetic, juxtaposing the violence of S.W.A.T teams against the feel-good vibes of the Golden Age of the 50’s. Jimmy Saras provided the lighting and cinematography, helping to create the Sin City-esque imagery that assaults the senses.
“Through the Trap” shows us how far Ariano and Jade River have truly come since their last effort.
