“New York may have another star.” – Hypebeas
“A Brooklyn MC you can trust.” – XXL
“Not only is he helping craft the second wave [of Payday Records], he’s also doing so as one of the sole East Coast representatives.” – HipHopDX
“A name has been whispered around Brooklyn’s hood for a hot minute now… This name has impressed all with his authentic New York grit, extremely dope lyricism, and penchant for vivid storytelling. That name is Radamiz…” – OkayPlayer
“Bringing New York back” is a phrase to describe rappers restoring the grittiness of the ‘90s, steeped in lyricism and storytelling without compromising their sound for a mainstream hit. For Radamiz, a skilled battle rapper and artist from Bed-Stuy, Brooklyn, he’s taken those core elements of hip-hop and modernized them, possessing a fresh, throwback flow. A hip-hop kid who grew up studying the lyrics of Jadakiss and Notorious B.I.G., as well as listened to Jay-Z, Eminem, D12, and G-Unit as he got older, Radamiz is the quintessential East Coast rapper.
Raised by Dominican-immigrant parents in Bed-Stuy, Brooklyn’s Sumner Projects complex, 26-year-old MC Radamiz’s story is unlike a story told before. From being influenced to start rapping at the age of 12 outside of his first job packing groceries at a local supermarket, to highlights such as being declared as Hot 97’s East Coast “Who’s Next” artist and opening for the likes of of Kendrick Lamar, Rakim, A$AP Ferg, Talib Kweli, Mos Def, Action Bronson, Pro Era, Tunji Ige, Chuck Inglish, Smoke DZA, Vic Mensa, Smif-N-Wessun, Nitty Scott MC, and many more. Radamiz has also been busy performing at venues all over NYC including SOB’s, Webster Hall, Santos Party House, YouTubeSpaceNY and a main stage performance at the Brooklyn Hip-Hop Festival.
After premiering the single with Billboard, today the Brooklyn native and one of XXL’s “15 New York Rappers to Look Out For” premiered the video for “Fake Gucci” with HipHopDx.
The “Fake Gucci” video is a display of arriving at your confidence. We play with the motif of the younger kid looking up to the older role model – reenacting movement and action to get to that place of representing yourself impenetrably” Radamiz commented to HipHopDx. “I wanted to represent for Sumner and Tompkins Projects, the Dominican community in Dyckman, and my family. The song is a celebration of believing in yourself after adversity and we just wanted to put that self-love and joy on full display.”
Radamiz’ Nothing Changes If Nothing Changes will be released on 10-4-19 by Payday Records.
