The Hues Brothers provocative new video for “Phantom Vibrations” explores the various ways and means we’re sucked into screens, the psychological and physiological effects of a plugged-in life, the consideration of devices as vices, and the social control exerted by big tech.
The track combines a pulsating bass line, psychedelic melody and an electro reggae bounce balanced by a tempered flow. The music video is a psychedelic narrative — equal parts Blade Runner, arthouse films and a suspenseful rap video.
“Phantom Vibrations” comes from the New York group’s forthcoming LP, Radio Activity, which will be released on 4-13-18 and is now available for pre-order.
