R&B singer-songwriter Jack Freeman joins forces with GRAMMY Award-winning songwriter and producer Bryan-Michael Cox and GRAMMY-nominated producer Donnie Scantz for “Me and You,” the first single from his forthcoming album, Mahogany. Distributed by Jive Records, “Me and You” is available worldwide on all major streaming platforms, with the accompanying visual now available on YouTube.
Written by Jack Freeman and Bryan-Michael Cox and produced by Cox and Donnie Scantz, “Me and You” transforms Jack Freeman’s heartbreak and reflection into an intimate meditation on love that does not unfold as expected. Inspired by personal events that prompted Freeman to examine his own emotions, the song reflects his desire to find clarity, connection and lasting joy with the right person. Built around a sample of Glenn Lewis’ “Never Too Late,” “Me and You” offers a simple, yet vulnerable solution: step away from the noise and expectations of the outside world to discover what two people can become together.
“Watching someone who had been a major part of my life move forward forced me to confront emotions I had not fully processed. ‘Me and You’ is vulnerable, but it is also aspirational because it speaks to my desire for clarity, connection and lasting joy with the right person. The way Bryan chopped the Glenn Lewis sample helped shape that feeling and led us toward a simple solution: get away from everybody and everything for a moment and focus on who we are together.”
