Kendrick Lamar Mural Defaced Yet Again in Hometown
Kendrick Lamar’s murals in his hometown continue to face vandalism. Over the weekend, footage surfaced showing one of his iconic murals defaced once again. The mural, featuring three images of the rapper, now has red and blue letters and signs painted over it. The central image, once showcasing Kendrick’s face, has been completely blacked out, leaving only an outline.
This marks at least the third time this specific mural has been targeted. Back in September, it was spray-painted twice in separate incidents, and now, the cycle of vandalism continues. Sadly, this isn’t the only K-Dot mural to suffer such treatment. Another artwork dedicated to Kendrick, located outside Tam’s Burgers—the backdrop for his “Not Like Us” music video—was also destroyed by vandals.
The motive behind the repeated vandalism remains unclear, and the culprits have yet to be identified. Despite these incidents, the original artists have revitalized the murals in the past, though the defacing seems to persist.
Fans and community members have expressed frustration over the repeated attacks on art meant to honor one of Compton’s most celebrated figures.
